Our 4th Celebration

Wayne and I had several invites to various 4th of July block parties, but instead decided to do something low key. We spent the morning at Beaverton Farmers Market with our neighbor (who's wife is out of town). In the afternoon, they guys fired up their grills at the end of the cul-de-sac and cooked...and cooked and cooked. On the menu: beer butt smoked chicken, yak jalapeno cheese burgers with a sweet relish aole, country style BBQ ribs, steak, Fetzer's garlic brats, not to mention an array of roasted veggies. It was all DELICIOUS! Several neighbors stopped by to sample. We ate, jumped in the pool when it got hot, made homemade ice cream, and of course lit fireworks. Between us and the neighbors across the street, we had a lovely variety of Oregon and Washington fireworks.
We were happy to get to have Piper come hang out with us and surprised how well Maddie did with the fireworks going off everywhere (in face, Maddie sat on the sidewalk with us and watched it all up close).
It was a pretty lazy and fun way to spend our 4th!
